What to Expect
If it's your first visit, your dentist will generally need to do a full exam. This is how they find out the condition of your gums.
Your hygienist will remove plaque and tartar from around your gums. They use skill and a set of tools: scalers, ultrasonic equipment and polishing paste. It may have been a while since your last dental cleaning, and that is okay. If so, this may take extra time. You may need another visit, or a new time, to finish your cleaning.
We may also ask if you would like a fluoride treatment. It makes your teeth stronger. It also protects against cavities for several months.

A typical teeth cleaning visit takes about 30 to 60 minutes. The time depends on how much plaque has built up. It also depends on the overall condition of your teeth and gums, and we will let you know what to expect.
How much is a teeth cleaning?
At Adelaide Dental, a new patient examination, x-rays and cleaning together ranges from about $580 to $810*. It depends on how much cleaning is needed.
A cleaning alone, with three units of scaling and one unit of polish, is about $240*.
