Cosmetic Dentistry
Many people want a smile they feel easy about. Maybe a tooth is chipped, a few are darker than the rest, or a gap bothers you each time you look in the mirror. These worries are common, and you are welcome to bring them to us.
At Adelaide Dental, cosmetic work is planned with you, one step at a time. We start by listening to what you would like to change. Then we explain what is possible, and you decide what feels right.

What is Cosmetic Dentistry?
Cosmetic dentistry is dental care that changes how your teeth, gums and smile look. Some treatments also repair a tooth, so looks and function are often improved together. These are the treatments we offer:
- Veneers: thin shells of porcelain that cover the front of a tooth and can change its colour, shape or size.
- Whitening: a way to lighten teeth that have darkened or stained.
- Invisalign: clear aligners that slowly move teeth into a straighter position.
- Crowns: caps that cover a damaged tooth to protect it and restore its look.
- White fillings: tooth-coloured material that repairs a chip or a cavity and blends in with the tooth.
- Implants: a post placed in the jawbone to replace a missing tooth, topped with a crown.
Some of this work depends on a dental lab. Our dentists work with local labs that have master ceramists, who are skilled makers of dental porcelain. For some cases, a wax-up is made first. This is a model of the planned smile, so you can see and discuss the shape before the final work is made.
Who is cosmetic dentistry for?
It may suit you if you are bothered by the colour, shape, size or spacing of your teeth. It may also help if you have a tooth that has been worn down, chipped or filled many times, or if a missing tooth leaves a gap.
Your teeth and gums need to be healthy first. If we find a cavity or gum disease, we usually treat that before any cosmetic work. This protects your results and keeps your mouth healthy for the long run.
What to Expect
At your first visit your dentist will ask what you would like to change and look at your teeth and gums. You may have a full exam, x-rays and intraoral photos, which are pictures taken inside your mouth. These help us plan.
Your dentist will then suggest a plan made for you and explain each step, how long it may take, and what care is needed afterwards. You can ask as many questions as you like, and you are not expected to decide on the spot.
How long does cosmetic work take?
It depends on the treatment. Whitening may take a visit or two. Veneers, crowns and Invisalign take longer because they are made for you, so your dentist can give you a time frame once the plan is set.
How much is cosmetic dentistry?
At Adelaide Dental, a veneer on one tooth, the most common cosmetic treatment, ranges from about $1,500 to $1,970*. The high end includes a core under the veneer, and both include the lab fee.
*The range follows the Ontario Dental Association Suggested Fee Guide for General Practitioners, 2026. Your fee depends on the treatment you need, and we give you a written estimate before anything is done.
